The center also boasts of a weight room, a racquetball court, two dance studios, a computer lab, and a large gym with basketball courts. Smithville is also abundant with opportunities for other recreational activities. Colorado River being easily accessible, visitors and residents can enjoy boating, canoeing, and rafting. One can also rent kayaks and canoes.
The park roads that run through Bastrop and Buescher State Parks are also great for bike riding. Both parks features loops as well as shaded areas that provide for a peaceful bike riding experience. Avail of the over 30 miles of mountain biking trails that these parks provide.
Smithville residents also love to fish at the Riverend Park or swim at the Bastrop State Park that boasts of a 60′ x 100′ pool. There are also available 3 lighted tennis courts at Smithville Junior High School; however the school administration needs to be contacted ahead of time in order to unlock the gates.
The Power Plaza State Park is the best place to be for skateboarding and skating enthusiasts. This outdoor park features rails, hips, stair cases, grass gaps, a bridge pyramid, a snake run, wallrides, ledges, and more. There are six different golf courses in the area where residents can enjoy a round of golf.

Smithville also has an excellent educational system apart from recreational opportunities. The high school offers a full athletic program as well as college prep and vocational tech programs.
