People’s ability to buy things that their hearts want has created an issue about storage space. Also, there are business entrepreneurs who hanker for extra space where they could safely store their goods. Thus, the personal warehouse is a wonderful solution to the problem of storage space. Still, even if you’ve been told that you could store anything and everything inside a personal warehouse, you have to be mindful that there are, all the same, certain limitations on particular items.
These prohibitions are composed for purposes of safety, not only of your own but also of the other tenants, the warehouse facility’s staff and personnel, the warehouse structure, and of other buildings in the nearby surroundings.
Be aware that if you would like to store a number of your personal stuff in a self-storage facility, there are some items that might be prohibited. To be properly advised, you must confer with the warehouse company manager who can supply you with an exhaustive list of the items that are prohibited from storage. As a reference, the following are the most common categories of things that are banned inside personal warehouse units.
Inherently dangerous materials and/or substances are banned in self storage units. Kerosene lamps, motor oil, grease, fertilizers, paint, biological wastes, and/or items or substances that are combustible, biohazardous, toxic, or flammable are some examples of items, substances, and/or materials belonging to this category. Furthermore, stolen goods, illegal narcotics, contraband and smuggled goods should not be placed in personal storage as well. These objects may be counted as evidence in case the tenant is arrested.
Some facilities may have freezer units that can accommodate perishables. Nevertheless, a large majority of personal warehouses do not currently have this feature so they cannot permit the storage of animal products and/or other perishable goods, such as food. These items have a great possibility of spoiling and can draw in harmful pests and/or insects. Thus, in order to avoid causing inconvenience to the warehouse staff and to other tenants, it would be do good if you consult with your warehouse unit manager before storing some goods that you doubt the classification of in your personal warehouse.
